The Cockapoo, the Cockerpoo or the Spoodle are mixed breed designer dogs. They are mix between a Cocker Spaniel and a Poodle.
The Cockapoo dog was believed to be originating in America around the early 1950′s. Since then the Cockapoo has grown in popularity for numerous reasons.
The Cockapoo is hypo allergenic which is a positive trait for those who have dog allergy problems because they have no undercoat. The cockapoo dog sheds very lightly if any and coat comes in numerous colors. The cockapoo colors range from apricot to silver. The cockapoo is usaully great with pets and children alike and have great household personalities. Cockapoos range in size and weight. Sizes range from teacup 4- lbs toy -10lbs mini 10-20 lbs standard 20-30 lbs and giant +30 lbs.
Cockapoo dogs need constant care and love to grow up healthy and loving people. Genetics help the cockapoos personality however it means nothing with neglect.
Cockapoo dogs need constant grooming. The cockapoo needs regular clippings and need much maintainence to keep their coat looking nice.
The most common health problems that occur with a cockapoo is: Retinal atrophy and other various eye problems, hip dysplasia (hip problems), legg-calve-perthes disease and the occasional allergies. Don’t let this discourage you however, these are also common issues that can occur with any dogs.
Life Span: 10 – 15 Years with good cockapoo love and care.
