Relationship Matters
By peace | March 13, 2007
Relationships matters to me. A person cannot live all by himself. It is important to maintain a good relationship between ourselves and our surrounding community of people. When you do your job well and treat others honestly, you will have harmonious interpersonal relationships. If you live with a lame person, you will learn to be limp. Therefore, the choice of our friends is very important to our growth and learning.
Confucius said,”There are three types of friendship that are beneficial and three kinds that are harmful. Friendship with the upright, the trustworthy, and the knowledgeable is beneficial. Friendship with the flattering, the insinuating and the braggart is harmful.”
Whether at home, in school or in the workplace or marketplace, we need to interact with people and this is a world of relationships. When left alone, people feel lonely. There are many online dating sites, online chatting, romance matchmaking services available easily. Love is a subject of interests as well as the roots of a lot of problems in this world. Through love, hatred, envy, jealousy results. Crimes, murders, conspiracy etc follows.
Where relationship is concerned, trust is very important. A person cannot establish trust and creditability if he does not honour his words and match his words with action. Confucius placed a great emphasis on the virtue of trust. He did not think that a person without trust can secure a foothold in society. This is no different from a large carriage without the crossbar to yoke an ox or a small carriage without the crossbar to harness a horse. How can such carriages be made to move? An honest person who honours his words can get along with people wherever he goes.
Confucius said,”He acts before he speaks, and afterwards speaks according to his action.” A person will lose the trust of others if he fails to act on his words or overstates the facts. This is what a gentleman hates. He who boasts with no sense of shame will find it difficult to put into practice what he says. Therefore, a person should be cautions about and responsible for his words because this is a way to win trust.
In love relationships, we place all our trust, dreams and hopes on it, especially marriage. It takes years to build trust but it can need to take a minute to destroy ‘trust’ in a relationship. Can there be trust again after it has been lost in a relationship? It takes more than just love to make a relationship or marriage works. Can a person really mend his or her way when he make their mistakes in a relationship? Where relationship is concerned, people need advice and ideas. Relationships are not taught in schools. We got to learn it from our experience and from reading up ourselves. eRomance provides free online dating, relationship advice, date ideas and an active community to discuss love, relationships, dating and romance. There will be one article that will interest you. Besides the articles, I love the inspiration section where there are quotes and poems.
Life is full of ups and downs. My marriage is rocky too. I cannot make my marriage to work alone. It takes the effort of two committed partners to make a marriage work the way you want it to work. What is most depressing to a woman is a husband that betray you. I am perplex. Can I trust him again? He has made promises, different sorts of promises. Did he ever fulfill his promises? No. And yet he breaks my heart again and again. Can I trust him again and again? Forgiving and trusting is another different issues. I do not know what to do. Perhaps, one day, eRomance can have the answers for me.
Today, we can, each of us, look back on our lives and get a glimmering of why something happened and how it fit into the larger mosaic of our lives.
And this will continue to be true for us. We have stumbled. We still stumble.
And we learn about ourselves, about what makes us stumble and about the methods of picking ourselves up.
Life is a process, a learning process that needs those stumbles to increase our awareness of the steps we need to take to find our dream at the top.
None of us could realize the part our stumbling played in the past. But now we see.
When we fall, we need to trust that, as before, our falls are “up”, not down.
