Red Car
By peace | April 6, 2007
Since young, my father had cars, trucks and lorries. The trucks and lorries come in various shades of blue and green. As for cars, he had red, white, black and metallic green. He hired drivers to work for him. My brother stopped school at an early age and he helped my father in the business. Managing the business is not easy. Buying vehicles need to spend huge sum of money and they need good drivers to care and maintain their vehicles.
When encounter irresponsible drivers, the trucks and lorries suffer. My brother and father also need to pay fines and summons incurred by these irresponsible drivers. They do not care if there were people who would vandalize the vehicles. They do not care if they park their vehicles at improper places. I told my them that they should change their policy. It is so unfair for them. Red car was the car that brought them most problems — car scratching by some pranksters!
Not just trucks and lorries which got vandalized by some pranksters. My brother’s cars also always got vandalize by people, especially red car. Sometimes in the morning of the day when he wanted to drive the car out for work, he discovered scratches at the side of his car. Car is his treasure. Whenever his car suffer ‘serious injuries’ he does not fail to do ‘cosmetic surgeries’ for his favourite car. He will send the car for servicing and maintenance every now and then at the mechanics.
My husband had a red car years ago. It was a weekend car. It was brand new and it was our first car. He parked the car at the car park every day. However, something bad happened one night — someone purposely did a long deep scratch on the right hand side of the car. It was so deep scratch and long. The red paint all drop off and there was nothing he could do. He was heart broken and so did I. He regretted not buying one of the car covers when we were at a shop selling car accessories one day. Everything was too late by then to know the importance of car covers. If we had put on a cover, these people would not have easy to vandalize the vehicles.
Red colour, a conspicuous colour which seems to attract a lot of attention and probably induce jealousy and envy to some people. I never like red. It is just too conspicuous and bloody for me. If I have money to buy a car, I will not choose red. I want a pale colour, something like metallic gold or creamy metallic white like pearl white. Back to the vandalism topic, these pyschotic people just cannot tolerate red and new car. My brother and my husband suffer similar fate of people scratching their brand new red car. Just like we keep our treasures in bags, for fear of dropping them, for fear of scratching them, the same thing goes to cars, motor cycles, or other vehicles. They should be cover up when not in use — truck covers, motorcycle covers, car covers etc to prevent unnecessary problems such as to prevent the vehicles from staining with birds’ shits all over!
