Home Telephone Problems
If you’re having a problem with your home telephone, you may be able to locate the source of your difficulty with the following checklist:

1. Disconnect any telephone accessories, such as an answering machine, from your line. Now check to see if the cord form the phone to the wall as well as the cord from the phone to the handset are in good condition and tightly in place.

2. If you have an extension phone, try to make a call on it. If you succeed, the problems is in the other ph
one, not in the wire or the line.
3. If you can unplug your phone, move it to another outlet. If the phone works in the second outlet, the problem is probably in the inside wire of the first outlet.
4. If you can unplug your phone but don’t have another outlet, test the phone in a neigbours’ outlet. If it works there, the problem could be with the inside wire or the line.
5. If the prob
lem is in the line or the inside wire, contact your local telephone company for repair service .
6. If you’ve made all these checks and you still can’t locate the trouble or you can’t unplug your phone to do the tests, contact your local telephone company’s repair service.
Mobile Handphones Problems
There are three main reasons why people are concerned that cellular telephones (also known as “wireless” or “mobile” telephones) may cause certain types of cancer.
1. Cellular telephones emit radiofrequency (RF) energy, a form of radiation, which is under investigation for its effects on the human body.

2. Cellular telephone technology is relatively new and is still changing, so there are no long-term studies of the effects of RF energy from cellular telephones on the human body.
3. The number of cellular telephone users is increasing rapidly. It is important to learn whether RF energy affects human health, and to provide reassurance if it does not.
