Bank Experience

By peace | April 24, 2007

My experience with the bank is all bad. It makes my blood boil to mention about banks. I am not going to mention the bad experiences. It is very vexing. My mother has similar experience too. She even got ‘cheated’ by the bank because she is illiterate. The bank took advantage of her just because she does not know how to read!

I have various bank accounts, but most of them are closed now. I have saving accounts and current accounts. I used to have another account that had a mixture of saving and current together, called autosave account, but this was closed now. As mention earlier, most of my accounts are closed. I am left with three accounts now, two saving accounts and a current account.

In the past, we need to go to the banks to update our accounts or to do any other transactions such as depositing money, withdrawals and so on. With internet, everything is much more convenient now. We can use internet banking to check our accounts balance, make funds transfer and pay bills. However, nothing is free. Soon there will be charges for each transaction as I always see what they wrote there ‘transaction fee waived’ — thirty cents! Everything is automated now and they still want to deduct charges here and there. I am not going to use the service anymore if they are going to start making deductions from my bank!

I do not know if I will close down another account because of Bank Charges. I am not sure what charges and how much the bank charges for all our transactions. For all I know, if my balance in the account do not have a certain amount, a minimum of $500, I have to pay a certain amount. If I withdraw money from the ATM for a certain number of times, there are charges. If I transfer money from banks to banks through the internet and there are problems, I need to pay additional charges. If a cheque is issued and being bounced back, there is charges.

I am sick of Bank Charges. Everything is charges and charges but the interest rates are so little. All the bank wants is to ‘win’ and to earn money. To ‘earn more money’ they can even retort to unethical means — ‘cheating’ ignorant people and the elderly.
