My Favourite Shrimp Recipe

By peace | May 13, 2007

This is shrimps or prawns just taken out from the freezer. I laid them on the newspaper, ready to peel off the shells and cut off the feelers. After peeling off the shells, I just wrap up the newspaper and throw away the shells. Then I would wash the prawns, ready to cook.

I love to eat shrimp. I do not have any special shrimp recipe. When I feel like eating fried shrimp, I just cook it the way I want to eat it, either fried with flour, curry, chilli sauce or tomato sauce. However, among these, my favourite recipe is still the simplest of all, and that is just steam prawns. But there is special techniques to doing it. Shrimp must not be too cook, otherwise, they will lose its natural sweetness and they will be very ’stiff’ and dry too. Prawns that are just cook, are tasty, juicy and with just a bite, it will be ’snap off’. If too cooked, it will be ‘chewy’ and dry, hard to bite off.

After steaming, shrimp must be eaten fresh and hot from the pot. Dip the shrimp with your favourite sauce — chilli sauce or Tobasco sauce, they taste yummy. If you cannot finish eat them, you can chill them in the fridge for another meal. They are great when eaten cold too.
I am going to show you a video of my Shrimp, but now my shrimp is waiting to be defroze… Meanwhile, you can browse at this website for more Seafood Recipes and come back again to check my videos coming soon.

Okay, now my video is done, a brief and simple shrimp recipe that won’t make your kitchen oily. It is simple, fast, easy and healthy — not oily, not fatty, not salty and it has no seasoning. Everything original!

The best is not to peel off the shells of the prawns, but I prefer to peel off as it is easier to eat — especially for the children. For demonstration purpose, I have left some shrimps unpeel. The whole procedure as can be seen from the videos, is very fast, within ten minutes you can eat the shrimps or prawns. Serving with soup, sauce, bread, all to your preference. It is a wonderful dish!

Shrimp Recipe

This is the final product of what I had cooked. No salt, no seasoning, nothing at all, sauce put aside as some people prefer to dip the prawns in some sweet sauce or chilli sauce. I prefer to eat it plain, savouring the original sweetness of the shrimps.

[…] This is oyster sauce stirred fried Cai Xin with prawns.  Without inspiration, my life is a blank piece of paper.  Yesterday was a day of cooking inspiration.  I had the inspiration to cook.  I had all the motivation and inspiration for cooking.  I have not had a good cooking for a long time, since I was busy earning money from blogging.  I learned cooking from my mother — basic skills; no certificates, no diploma and no degree, no graduation from cooking yet.  In the past, several years back, when I just got married, I would have cooked ‘complicated meals’ — chicken chop, fried spring onion frog legs, drunkard prawns, fried Assam fish and so on.  I love to eat my own cooked food.  But somehow my cooking was not appreciated.  I worked in the past.  Cooking is what I do when I was back from work.  Sometimes weekends were spent cooking and eating at home.  A lot of time taken to prepare and cook a meal, just for the two person.  However, it is good if ‘everybody’ enjoy eating.  But this is not the case.  Somehow the weird person does not like any home cooked food at all.  He likes Food Court Food and junk food.  He does not seem to enjoy any home cooked food, whether at home, his mother’s home or at the workplace — those ‘mass production’ type of cooking.  That is diversion from my topic.  Back to cooking inspiration.  I cook what I like to eat, but I also cook what other people like to eat.  I used to refer to cooking books for ideas and methods of cooking.  However, now I do not buy anymore cooking recipes books.  I prefer to taste the ‘natural’ taste of food.  My favourite shrimp recipe is just steaming or boiling the prawns.  I boil corns, carrots, broccoli and potatoes.  At times I will have stirred fried vegetables too.  Everything is just a balanced.  I like to eat corns just by boiling it (not too long, just cooked), one can taste the real ’sweetness’ of the corns.  I do not put butter too.  It is so nice just to savour the natural sweetness of the corn like that.  Inspiration has added a lot of colours to my piece of plain paper.  Inspiration had not only inspired me in the area of cooking, it has motivated me to learn many things as well.  When inspiration comes, my heart is filled with interest and desire to get my mission accomplished.  This can be my work of art in paintings, in making of several craftswork and even cottages, it has definitely helped me to get all my blogs updated regularly with different topics.  Not all people loves the piece of paper.  However, to me, it is just following my heart, letting my inspiration at work and blending it with my heart.  With love, I found inspiration.  With love, everywhere could be a source of inspiration.  You don’t need to spend money to have inspiration.  All it needs is your love.  Over here, my love for food has motivated me to cook.  The sight of good food had brought me inspiration and all the necessary ‘fuels’ to motivate me to cook my favourite dishes.  Perhaps all the inspiration at work is the help of God’s holy spirit and this is the way how God communicate with us.   Not all people loves this kind of cooking.  However, this is a healthy diet and I tried to cook a balanced meal.  I feel satisfied with myself.  I had put in my efforts, I had optimized all means I can, and I have no regrets in life, for I had tried my best.  […]
