Troubled Teens

By peace | June 17, 2007

Looking after children is not easy nowadays. Children in the past, those olden times were more obedient to their teachers and parents. They have respect for their teachers and are filial to parents. Children today are more defiant, have their own opinions and many are not respecting their teachers or parents too.

I have niece and nephews who are teenagers now. There seems to be communication barriers between the teenagers and the parents. As our children grows older, there seems to be lesser communication. As time grows, the gap become bigger. This is especially so for working parents. Everyday the children and parents have hardly any time for communication. Communication problems also happens to children who have non-working parents. It all depends on how parents and children interact.

A lot of problems arise out of communication barriers and communication problems. Teenagers play truant, smoke, take drugs, have extramarital sex, steal, engage in fighting, left home, etc when they have problems with their families. Parents love their children. They will agree to whatever the children want. But when it comes to problems like that, they are at wits end. However, at times, there are signs that there are problems with their children already.
