Exam Papers

By peace | September 11, 2007

Valerie’s mother asked me to buy exam papers for her (I am giving tuition to Valerie). Today I went to Woodlands Civic Center to get them for her. This is my first time buying such exam papers. One stack of papers cost about $15 on average. Valerie wants English, Mathematics, History and Geography. However, they only have two subjects which she wants — English and Maths. Both subjects cost $30 altogether.

Since I am buying for Valerie, I also get exam papers for my children. The woman who sells the test paper told me that they do home delivery too. I thought that was so much better. For buying these test papers, I had to carry such heavy weights around. It was so tiring. But I am not sure if I am going to buy them again next year. I have not looked through all the papers yet.

[...] I am not lazing when it comes to Tuition for Valerie. I treat her like any other students. I am always impartial. As it is all about family relations, I am not so particular about strict timing too. But still work is work. There must be a limit. I have my own work to do, my own family commitment — I have my own children to look after. Even though, they had asked me for help, I had tried my best to extend what is considered extra work, beyond tuition job scope even. I had even take time to buy exam papers for them. I do not know if I am going to be paid for that, but even if they don’t pay in the end, I am going to be fine since we are all kins. Valerie is my niece. [...]

[...] Yesterday Valerie’s mother send me a message. Valerie had scored very well for her Maths Exam. Her Maths Paper I was 43/50 and Maths Paper II was 42/50. This make her Maths Exam a total marks of 85/100. This is indeed a fast progress. She was very weak in her foundation and concepts the first time she came to my home for tuition. She was not even sure of significant numbers and operations of signs when she came. I was not aware of that until she did the exam papers. [...]
