Pay For Good Food
If you asked me what I want to eat many years back, I would have named you restaurant food like Western Food, Italian Food and so on. However, that is just a luxury and indulgence now. Nobody can always rely on Restaurant food or packed food forever. There are always time where you have to stay at home, like the SARS period (people have to stay indoors) and during sick times, you need to eat simple food.

Simple Is Good
Life had changed my thoughts, changed my habits and changed my taste. I love to eat simple food — boiled, steam, baked, easy-cooking food. Cooking my own food is the more practical way of living, especially with food prices soaring.

Rushing For Time & Cleaning Up After Cooking ==> Easy Cooking
Having so much work to do, every meal that I cook have to be fast and as balanced as possible. I have to make sure that there are no laundry clothes hanging in the kitchen and after cooking, the kitchen must not be oily. Other methods of cooking I employed besides boiling, steaming and Baking are deep-frying or frying — occasionally, but these are not as much as boiling.

Instant & Natural Food Is The Best
Below are the list of food which I would love to eat at all times. They are just simple and natural food which can be eaten easily by simple methods of cooking — boiling, steaming or baking; or not at all, in the case of fruits and biscuits. These are instant food which can be eaten anytime of the day to fill the stomach!

Tedious Cooking, Time Wasting & Money Wasting
It is not wrong to like Satay or Fried Kway Teow. They are great food. I would love to eat them. But it is not healthy to eat them every time. They are oily and food like Satay is difficult to cook at home. I would not want to list them under my top 10 food because they are impractical. Anytime they are closed, I have nothing to eat.

This is what I had written at Helium Today:

What are the TOP 10 foods that you like?
Do you live to eat or eat to live? If we can live to eat, then that is a happy life. You can eat all the most wonderful food cooked by great chefs. You must be rich or well-to-do if that happens. However, people who live to eat are either sensible people who care about their weight or they are people who cannot indulge in luxury. The latter people are people who have to work to eat. Work to earn money, work to have money, and eat only when the stomach is too hungry.

I belong to the second group of people. Life is so stressful because I have two kids and a house to pay. All the prices of things are increasing like crazy every year. These are my views of my favourite food.

The TOP 10 foods that I like:

1. Durian
Durian is the king of all fruits, the all purpose wonder whole food, anyone can buy and eat. No need to cook, can be used for medicinal purposes as well as a meal to fill the stomach. It has excellent magical taste. You can read more about my views of Durian, everything about Durian at my site YrManna.com at one of the Durian Page: http://www.yrmanna.com/durian/

2. Mangosteen
Mangosteen is the queen of all fruits. It is sweet and succulent, and beautiful. Mangosteen are great for people who like to draw still arts. They are simply beautiful.

3. Water-Melon
Eating fruits are healthy lifestyle. The above two fruits are heaty. If I am feeling dehydrated and thirsty, I would want to eat water-melon. Any time of the day, a slice of water-melon or its juice are great.

4. Porridge
Rice is a wonderful food feed billions of mouth everyday. I like to eat porridge as they are simple and easy to cook. Whether you are sick or feeling stressed, the plain porridge can eat with anything.

5. Eggs
Century eggs, salty duck eggs, chicken eggs, quail eggs, all kinds of eggs I love to eat. Fried, boiled or steamed, they can be eaten alone, or with my favourite porridge.

6. Nuts
Peanuts, groundnuts, cashew nuts, hazel nuts are my favourite food too. Eaten with porridge or eat as snack. They provide our body with proteins and the essential minerals salts too.

7. Sweet Potatoes
I love to eat sweet potatoes with orange flesh inside. They are very sweet and delicious. They can be steamed or boiled. Eaten alone or cooked as desserts, they filled the stomach and opened your appetite if you cooked it with ginger.

8. Beans
The beans family is another great family for simple food. Green bean soup and ‘Tau Suan’ (green bean cotyledons) are my favourite dessert. Bean curd is another food which I like to eat which are made from soya beans.

9. Biscuit
Biscuit is the instant stomach-filler. Drink with a cup of Milo or Horlicks, it is a meal settled. I love to eat Lemon Puff and Cracker (butter or oats).

10. Water/Tea
Whether you love it or not, you have to drink for all your meals. So my food list here must have a drink. My favourite drink is water or Chinese Tea — no sugar, no sweet at all. This is what I like.

OR

10. Seafood
If the answer is not acceptable above, then my last food which I would like to put here is seafood. I love to eat seafood — abalone, fish(any fish — catfish, salmon, etc), oyster, prawns or shrimps, crabs, lobsters, cockles, clams and scallops. Merely steaming, boiling would suffice. I like the natural sweetness of seafood.

These are the list of 10 food in terms of priorities which I like. I would not want to write down all the food like Chicken Bolognese, Buddha Jump Over The Wall and so on. When one has no money, nobody can hire a chef to cook for them. Eating simple food and natural food is the best.

Vegetables Not Forgotten
If you are thinking why I mentioned balanced diet and not vegetables, then here is my answer: Vegetables are not to be omitted for a balanced and healthy meal. I did not include any vegetable in the of my favourite food because vegetables need to be cooked. They are perishable easily. I love vegetables and all vegetables I like. They are carrots, broccoli, corn, spinach, lady fingers, leafy vegetables, radish, lotus and many more.

Longing For The Unreachable
Why Seafood and Not Vegetable? Vegetable are cheaper than Seafood. I get to eat vegetables everyday. I wrote seafood because I hardly get to eat them.
