New Year Celebration
By peace | January 5, 2008

New Year Celebration: This is Singapore, Woodlands, beside Causeway Point and Woodlands MRT station.
This is taken on New Year Eve, 31.12.07. He saw me taking photographs and he stopped to let me take a picture of him. That was so nice of him. He had a hard time walking around, carrying the cute creature, trying to entertain everybody.
Everybody was seen enjoying themselves, especially the little children. Some playing with foam and some jumping on the inflatable playground. My children was also excited about it, but we were not aware of such celebration and we were on our way to my mother’s house. They were rather disappointed and hope to come back again in the evening.
We did not go back in the evening. The children were so eager to go when they came back from my mother’s house. I am always the one sandwiched in between the children and the head. The children wanted to enjoy and have some fun, especially looking at Fireworks. The head, on the other hand, would rather stay at home to watch Fireworks in the TV. If I ‘listen’ to the children, ‘he’ feels that the children is of higher priority than him. This is the kind of frustration that I can get. This is no peace. I cannot satisfy everybody. When there are more people, more disagreements and nobody want to give in. Sometimes I really hope that I can be alone, then I can do the things that I really want and I do not have to think of what other people might think and how they might feel.
Do we bring our children here, to deprive them of seeing the world, deprive them of exploring and learning? Why do we bring our children here? If we do not have happiness, can we bring happiness to our children? Are we bringing suffering to our children when we are struggling with our own life? Why bring children to this world when we cannot promise them happiness and good life? This is really a mistake, but this is perhaps God’s will.
Marry a man who are willing to sacrifice anything for you. Marry a man who love children and are willing to learn. Marry a man who have plans — always have plans and not living a day as it comes. This is going to lead you to nowhere. Above all, marry a man who follow God. A god-fearing man, a man who respect and follow God will be a good man.
However, that night, my children got to see some fireworks. They were happy but yet blame the father for not going there. I can see them growing up, having more opinions now and the ability to ‘open’ up more. It is only through sharing of ideas that we get to know each other’s thoughts and we can understand each other better. This is what communication is all about.
