Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk

By peace | January 26, 2008

Santa Cruz is the county seat and largest city of Santa Cruz County, California, United States. The City of Santa Cruz, California, is situated on the northern part of Monterey Bay about 74 miles south of San Francisco and 30 miles from San Jose. Santa Cruz is the county seat for the County of Santa Cruz. As of the 2000 U.S. Census, Santa Cruz had a total population of 54,593. It is located on the northern edge of the Monterey Bay, about 72 mi (115 km) south of San Francisco and is considered the overlapping portion of Northern California with Central California.

Santa Cruz is the quintessential beach town. It was here that Hawaiian royalty first introduced surfing to the mainland–and locals and visitors alike have been riding the waves ever since. Not far from the surf break, calliope music and laughter fills the air at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, the West Coast’s last remaining seaside amusement park. A few blocks from the beach is Santa Cruz’s newly renovated downtown. The pedestrian-friendly, tree-lined streets are filled with vibrant shops and galleries, outdoor bistros and sidewalk musicians - all in keeping with Surf City’s offbeat personality.

Fun and Winnings at Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk
This was exactly what Richard and I saw several years back at Santa Cruz. We took the ride and went to the arcade. We won some toys and enjoyed eating the hot dogs and baked potatoes there.

Illegal Parking
I was showing Richard these photographs which I had found on the net and he remembered about the parking fines we had got while we were there. There were lots of cars at Santa Cruz. He drove from Santa Clara to San Jose and then Santa Cruz. At Santa Cruz, we were not able to find any parking lot. In the end, he parked the green car at one corner of the road.

Cannot Escape
At the end of the day when we were back to the car, we discovered a summon. A fine from a foreign country! We did not know what to do. He kept the summon and we went back home after our trip there. Back at Singapore, after about 2-4 weeks, we received a letter from U.S. It was the fine which we had not yet paid! It was such a joke and sweet memories we had.
