Labradoodle

The Labradoodle comes in three sizes, Standard(largest), Medium and Miniature(Smallest). The Medium to light boning, graceful in movement and with vivacious expression. coat should be non-shedding, be of even length over body, on legs, neck, tail and head, and should be as close to non-allergenic as possible. Their unique traits of intuitive nature and the seeking of human eye contact should be easily discernible at a glance.
Labradoodle life expectancy is somewhere between that of the Poodle, at 12 to 18 years, and that of the Labrador Retriever, at 12 to 14 years. Many Labradoodle breeders have determined their dogs’ average lifespans to be 13 to 15 years. Standard Labradoodle is over 20 inches at the highest point of the shoulders; the Medium Labradoodle is 17 inches to 20 inches to the shoulder; and the Miniature Labradoodle is below 17 inches to above 14 inches at the highest point of the shoulders.
Temperament: Confident, joyful, vivacious, clown-like, sociable and friendly, totally non-aggressive, clever and extremely intuitive. Well-suited for special work such as Therapy Dog and Assistance Dog.
Colours: The Labradoodle coat colours are black, blue, silver, chalk, cream, cafe-aulait, apricot, red, gold and chocolate. Small white patches are accepted. Most Labradoodles are either black or golden tan, as these are the most dominant colour genes.
Coat: There are three types of coat possibilities for Labradoodles; all are easy to maintain, but not all are allergy-friendly. First, the “hair coat” can range from flat to straight, wavy or curly. This type of coat also can range from being slick like the coat of a Labrador, to having feathering on the tail, legs and face, to wavy all over. This coat sheds in varying degrees and is not the desirable coat type for the Labradoodle. The Second type is the “fleece coat” which is like that of an angora goat. This type of coat is a single coat, soft and curly and should not shed. Finally, the ‘woolly coat’ is much like the coat of a pure-bred Poodle, offering a non-shedding dog. The coat is dense and thick, sometimes a dense plush with curls that aren’t as tight as on a Poodle.
Serious Faults: Hyperactivity, shyness, timidity, aggressive to people or other animals, snappy, yappy, high-strung, missing pigment, overshot, undershot or crowded mouths, patched colour, kinked or teapot tails, weak or “hare” feet, heavy or ponderous build, cow hocks, dippy backs.
