The Breath of Life
By peace | June 17, 2008
Who give us Life? What is Life? What makes us different from other animals and the living things around us?
The meaning of Life is ‘To Live’. To know that we are living, means that we are breathing. Once you stop breathing, you are dead. Your spirit is not around any more and only the corpse or dead body is living on the earth, waiting to be decayed.
How does life come about? Once, I was not sure of the existence of God, the creator of Heaven and earth, though we studied the origin of life in Science. We studied human evolution and all about how plants and animals come about — all the different theories. However, there is no ‘proper’ answer at all as to how life really come about.
However, my view changed, totally changed and totally convinced now. I experienced it. I saw the unbelievable and I experienced the incredible. People said religion is just something ‘make-up’, but there is more to it.
Life was once with no meaning, or don’t know what is the meaning. But I am having a new life now, learning and living with mission to accomplish. Life is a gift from God and we must treasure our life. Yet it can be so vulnerable and the breath of life can be taken away from you anytime, ANY MINUTE.
Just take the example of my children recently. One day, Ricsson woke up fever. He was brought to the General Practitioner who examined him and later gave him the ‘normal’ medication — those ‘flu’ medicine. For that alone, we spent S$35 on that day. The next day, early in the morning, Ricsson woke up again with sudden headache, very severe and he cried in pain and loudly. We were so scared. As the clinic was not opened yet, we sent him to the hospital.
At the hospital, we spent another S$75. The medication was rather similar to that of the General Practitioner, just that the dosage was different and some brands were different too. Just one illness and it cost more than a hundred. After Ricsson, the next one to get sick was Clara.
Medical fees are just getting higher and higher. Can we afford to get sick? It is easy to get sick, but it is difficult to get remedy and get cured, especially if you have no money.
