The Singapore HeritageFest 12-27 July 2008 is paying tribute to the heroes in our lives. Courageous in nature. Resolute and unyielding. The ones who refuse to bow down to society’s conventions. Whose desire to triumph fuels their persistence. These heroes live among us. It’s time we honour them. Let’s start looking….
Everything changed. Ever since I was ‘reborn’, everything has changed. My interest has also changed.
Never been interested in Chinese opera, don’t even understand what they were talking. My mother loves Teochew opera. We used to buy her cassette and videos to watch. But no more already. However, when I was young, I used to imitate them. All I know was ‘Kiang kiang kiang kiang kiang’… The horse was so cute. I touched it and asked my children to take a photo with the man. He was very friendly.
Today, at Causeway Point, I saw these Chinese Opera artistes. They were all very old. During my time, I had seen many of them. There were young ones and old ones. But today, all that I had seen were all rather old. I wonder are there any young ones.

I like this woman and this man (bottom picture, man on the right). They were very sporting. This woman also looked so much like the popular Chinese Opera woman I had seen on TV before, even her costume is the same… It is really a very good day, able to see all these beautiful artiste ‘live’.
