HOPE: A Chance To Win
By peace | April 20, 2009
Times are bad, and it is even worst for me when two person in the family is not employed, and have tons of debts to bills to pay. In addition, another mouth to feed… another needs to be met…

With as little as S$7, you can stand a chance to win a nursery set worth over $2000 from mothercare…
Buying HOPE
Do you know that Huggies is running a contest right now? If you are pregnant now, you can take part in this Huggies Contest to win a baby cot. I am so excited about this contest as soon as I came to know about it. Months ago, I was worrying about where my baby can sleep. We could not afford to spend huge amounts of money on baby cot. So we bought a single size mattress. But now, I have HOPE for my baby!
First, I bought Huggies Diapers.
Next, come all the work:
Getting Ready For Huggies Contest
It was so much of excitement, having to think of words to write and ideas for an unique and meaningful photograph. My mind was set to win the contest — must have positive mindset, confidence and determination — that is half the battle won. I have no money, but that is what I can do for the baby. This is at least something which I can tell him in future — how the family had shown love for him and what are the things that money cannot buy.
Contest Requirement
The contest requires contestant to upload the photo of either Huggies New Born 24s or Huggies Small 44s in the room where the baby will be sleeping; and also share in no more than 50 words how the contestant are currently bonding with their baby who is still nesting in mummy’s belly.
Preparation for the Contest
Before I upload my photo, the first thing I do was to think of how I bond with my baby. Though everyday I ‘associate’ with my baby, we never know we are actually bonding with the baby until such question popped out. This is what really happens in life. We never think of such question but still have the kind of ‘bonding’ with our baby (I wonder if you get what I mean…)
Words In Action
So with such a question, you would tend to reflect on what you have done starting from conception till the present day you are carrying your baby in the tummy. Everyone will sure have different opinion and different answers to their ‘bonding with the baby’. As for mine, I had written down IN SHORT at the Huggies Contest website. Though there were a lot to say, but everything need to cut short in just 50 words. So there was a lot of construction and editing to be done.
Photo Ideas
Words are the easiest to be done because I do not need the help of another person. Anything which requires the co-operation or help from another person is always difficult. And I would always do the easiest part first (in this case, constructing the 50 words). Once that is done, I had to think of what I can do to SHOW how I bond with my baby. Since the baby is part of the family and it is NOT MINE alone, I decided to have my children included. This is a fact, and everyday, we are interacting with one another. The children and me (and of course the baby can hear the children) talked about the baby at times. Without me telling them what to do, sometimes they would touch my tummy, feel it, and also put their head on it (to hear the baby). Children are just curious, and that is why they are children.
Taking Photo
This is the most difficult part of the contest. I want something to look natural and things have to be done properly (that is the normal thing to do, to try our best in whatever things we do, and not to produce any sloppy work that can be submitted and that’s it…work done!) Every details need to be looked upon. But the thing is I am not the one who can take the photographs. I need a photographer to take my pictures!
Process
If Only The Photographer Is Co-operative
What the photographer can see in his screen, I cannot see. The photographer needs to communicate with the people (me and the children, and the positioning of the Huggies Packets). But such simple ‘details’ and yet difficult ‘requirements’. I have to TELL him. It’s not the quantities of photographs that count. It is the quality that counts! For one day, so many photographs and pose we had done were all gone to waste. “You think so easy har?”, “So troublesome, do yourself lar!”, “This one cannot, that one cannot.”….. Things like that. When is things easy to do? When is money easy to earn even? But with no money, this is the thing I can DO for my child — to win a baby cot or crib — BUYING HOPE with an investment of S$20 (furthermore, the baby would be using this products and it is not a waste of money!)
NG Huggies Photograph: To take a good picture, every single little bit of details need to be taken into consideration. This photograph above is definitely no good.
Family Activities
A total of 3 attempts, on different time interval and different days. Finally, I had to compromise. He, the photographer cum father of the child, was getting impatient. And luckily, on the third attempt, there was something presentable. Next, we had individual votes for which photographs to be chosen for the contest. I also asked the family for opinion on the 50 words I had constructed for the ‘bonding with my baby’.
Reflection
New LIFE
This is a all new experience, ‘fighting’ and striving the best to get something in return for Isaac. To love is to show COURAGE. To love is to sacrifice. To sacrifice one needs determination. Positive-Thinking and Never be Lazy.
