Speaking of Fireplace, one would be reminded of hell fire. Jesus speaks of hell fire. Why is hell associated with fire? Fire is a symbol of eternity, of that which is perennial. In the theophanies(divine manifestations) of the Old Testament, fire symbolises the holy and unapproachable nature of Yahweh. In chapter 19 of Exodus, it said “The whole of Mount Sinai smoked, because Yahweh descended on it in fire; and its smoke ascended like the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mountain quaked greatly.” Also, in Paul’s letter to the Hebrews, God is represented as a fire that consumes and judges everything.

God is Our Father. Despite the terrible reality of hell, God remains a loving father to us all. This is brought out in the parable of the lost sheep, where God leaves the other 99 sheep behind, and will not rest until He has found the missing one. God cares for each one of us; He cares for our personal happiness and spiritual well-being. Those who love God are sure of salvation.

In cold countries or countries with four seasons, the fire place is common or a necessity to keep the occupants of the house warm. Some years ago, my brother’s home had a decorative fireplace as well. But this fireplace was never completed.
