Flower Power

Fallen Leaves and Flowers on the grass

Fallen Leaves and Flowers on the grass

I have written about my old house (http://www.peacebella.com/2010/12/08/my-old-house/) and Mysteries( http://www.peacebella.com/2010/12/09/mysteries/) that I had seen…  the above photograph shows frangipani flowers and leaves fallen from the trees.  The frangipani flowers are trees that are often seen at graveyards, but in my neighbourhood, there are a few of them.  One particular block of flat which is along the roadside contains a row of Frangipani trees as shown in the photograph below.  This is where I had taken the above photograph while walking through the trees, under the canopy.

I can smell the sweet fragrance of the frangipani flowers as I was walking through these beautiful trees with their special branches.

Leaving in such a small urban country like Singapore, with no natural resources nor high mountains, there is really no beautiful landscape for you to enjoy. Everyday, what we see around my neighbourhood and around Singapore are really FLATS and BUILDINGS! What really stands out from these ‘dead’ structures and a ‘boring’ neighbourhood is really the PLANTS. Plants had made so much importance to our lives — food, shelter, ornamentals, fuels, furniture and so on. But this post is more on flower, which is part of the plant.

Flowers brighten our lives, beautify our surroundings and they are wonderful gifts which can be given to anyone and ANYTIME. Flowers are of such importance not only to humans but also to animals. Before there can be any fruits, there must always be the presence of FLOWERS…

Since young, flowers have always captivated me.  I love all kinds of flowers.  Being a Catholic, I had learned that the church has used symbolism and each saint has a story and a reason why he or she led an exemplary life.  Symbols have been used to tell these stories throughout the history of the Church. One such unique saint that I had encountered is St Therese of Lisieux, and this photograph below shows the book I had which wrote about her.

St Therese of Lisieux, Story of a SOUL

St Therese of Lisieux, Story of a SOUL

Therese of Lisieux is the patron saint of people with AIDS, aviators, florists, illness(es) and missions. By the Apostolic Letter Divini Amoris Scientia (The Science of Divine Love) of 19 October 1997, Pope John Paul II declared her one of the thirty-three Doctors of the Universal Church, one of only three women so named, the others being Teresa of Avila (Saint Teresa of Jesus) and Catherine of Siena. Therese was the only saint to be named a Doctor of the Church during Pope John Paul II’s pontificate.

St Therese is known as The Little Flower.  What happened today at my website, Peacebella.com while I was writing about address plaques, my mouse or notebook seems to go ‘abnormal’, ‘paranormal’ or ‘hay-wired’… I did not click on anything but I was led by Mother Teresa Catholic Ring: The Path of Love, to a website which I had never seen before.  This website is about St Theresa’s Roman Catholic Church, Sion Mills.

Unique and Special Home Address Plaque

Walking around my neighbourhood, and living in Singapore, what kind of entertainment can we really have? To see unusual things and unusual happenings perhaps is the key to everlasting imprints on the mind…  I had seen various kind home address plaques, but this is the first time I had seen such a beautiful and unique flower design wall address plaque.  This is no normal address sign around my neighbourhood…  There are plants surrounding this house which the owner had grown.  Gardening is a common hobby which flat owners can have.  ”Coincidentally”, one such plant, planted in a big pot, was what I had dreamed before…  This is really a world of wonder, and INTERLINKED world.  Spirits are in the air…. we might not see them, but they are helping our creator to fulfill HIS WILL… (read this link to understand better what I mean: http://www.peacebella.com/2010/11/28/national-parade-live/)
