Angelin's Baby & Child Clinic

Angelin's Baby & Child Clinic

Doctor Angelin Tan is a pediatrician with many years of experience. She used to be my little children’s doctor several years ago, when they were babies and toddlers. Now that I have another small baby, I had the opportunity to visit her again every now and then when Isaac is sick.

At my neighbourhood, there is a baby clinic too. However, due to some reason, I would rather spend some time traveling, and to bring my child to a doctor whom I am familiar with (at least someone I could trust).

The last time I went to her clinic (Isaac got flu), I happened to see her credentials hanged on the walls inside her office. These are mainly her Medical Degrees and all other specialist qualifications that she had achieved through the years of practice and studies. I am not good with my memory. However, if I remembered correctly, she got her MBBS (S’pore) in the year 1983 and had her Paediatrics specialist, M. Med (Paediatrics) in the year 1990. I was so impressed with a VERY BEAUTIFUL logo among the four credentials hanged on her office wall. Looking at it carefully, it was from Academy of Medicine, Singapore!!! This is the first time I had seen and known this fact! How impressive it is! I looked up to her greatly of course and said that she is so clever. But she said that it had nothing to do with intelligence, but stamina!

After much talk with her for the first time about her academic excellence and achievements, I got a slight picture of her journey through her medical field of studies, her profession, her call from God, her service to citizens of the nation.

This month, Isaac got infection from me — I called it the VD Club: Vomiting and Diarrhoea. After I had the first incidence of diarrhoea and stomach upset, Isaac got it four days later. We brought Isaac to her again. This time, I happened to see again another wooden decoration she put in her room. It was the words “God Bless Our Clinic”.

When I was young, I do not understand why somebody likes to work. When asked, people often said that they love their job, or to pass time. I hardly hear people say,”I need money so I work.”

What is your ambition? This is question asked by teachers when we were young and often in school. It is a simple question but with complicated answers (for me). This question would take time to slowly elaborate. But back to the topic of Academy of Medicine. I have a strong interest in medicine and I would very well be of interest if I can further my studies. I actually agree with what Dr Angelin said about ‘the stamina’. I was actually very tired with long hours of studies during my undergraduate days…

What is your calling? Are you a current doctor? Formed in 2004, Oxford Medical is a place where you can go for consultant interview course and even medical management course. Oxford Medical is one of the UK’s largest and best providers of various courses. Being a medical training company that teaches doctors various skills, doctors can upgrade themselves. Doctors worked in their office, meeting many kinds of sick patients everyday. Perhaps you need a change sometimes when you have worked so hard in your life. Take up a medical teaching course and you could be a teacher next, teaching doctors and sharing valuable experiences with your fellow comrades!

Science is evolving, diseases are changing.  The future of Medicine had to be definitely going to be better than now.  In my opinion, doctors should always upgrade themselves. Experienced doctors who had seen various kind of patients (and illnesses) can always give back to the society through their valuable knowledge and experiences, imparting their knowledge to the future generation.  Are you a doctor?  Impact your knowledge and experience to the future generation.  Be the extraordinary, take up challenges.  Take up medical teaching course or teach the teacher course would train you to be a teacher of doctors!  Improve the future generations.  Share Your Knowledge, share your skills.
