Youth Olympic Park

Youth Olympic Park

The Youth Olympic Park commemorates Singapore 2010, the first Youth Olympic Games. The Park was first conceptualized as Singapore’s first Art Park, featuring art works designed by youths of Singapore who participated in an art competition with the theme ‘Aspirations for life in Singapore’. Youth art works, themed on the Olympic values of Excellence, Friendship and Respect have been integrated into the park, together with memorabilia from the inaugural Games. These Olympic-themed artworks were made possible with sponsorship from Deloitte & Touche LLP.

The Youth Olympic Park is a collaboration between the Singapore Youth Olympic Games Organising committee, Urban Redevelopment Authority and National Parks Board. The Park was opened by Minister Mah Bow Tan, Minister of National Development on 24th April 2010.

Birth of The Youth Olympic Games
The Youth Olympic Games is a vision of the president of the International Olympic Committee, Jacques Rogge. The vision for the new sporting event is to inspire young people around the world to participate in sports, and adopt and live by the Olympic values.

The Youth Olympic Games was approved by the 119th Session of the International Olympic Committee in Guatemala in July 2007. Eleven cities, including Singapore, bid for the right to host the inaugural Youth Olympic Games.
